The canceled performance, originally set for July 1 in El Reno, Oklahoma, was scrapped due to “unforeseeable circumstances.” Just days earlier, on June 29, the Outlaw Music Festival Tour experienced a powerful storm in Ridgedale, Missouri, prompting an emergency evacuation of the crowd. The extreme weather event damaged several instruments and sound equipment, but Willie’s iconic guitar, Trigger, survived unscathed.
“Trigger is marked SAFE from the damage suffered to other instruments and equipment in the MO storm,” Nelson’s team confirmed in the announcement’s comment section.
Back on Stage in Austin
Repairs and replacements were fast-tracked, allowing the tour to resume just in time for Willie Nelson’s annual 4th of July Picnic in Austin, Texas.
