Lamborghini representative speaks out about Diogo Jota\’s accident
On July 3, the football world was shocked by the news that Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre died in a tragic traffic accident in Spain. The two unfortunate brothers were traveling in a Lamborghini Huracan – a model that has been recalled many times for safety reasons.
Faced with the great loss, a representative of Lamborghini sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Quoting from The Sun Sport, a Lamborghini spokesperson said:
“We are deeply saddened to hear about the accident that occurred in Spain involving a Lamborghini, which resulted in the deaths of Diogo and Andre Jota. At this time of grief, we would like to send our sincere condolences to their families. Lamborghini is currently awaiting further information about the circumstances of the incident, with absolute respect for those involved.”
The car involved in the accident was a Huracan – a supercar produced from 2014 to 2024. In recent years, some Huracan Coupe and Spyder versions produced in 2021 and 2023 have been reported to have a defect in the car\’s door seat belts, which are at risk of not being properly secured, leading to the possibility of the door not being able to open in an emergency situation. Lamborghini then asked authorized dealers to inspect and fix it for free.
In addition, Huracan models produced from 2021 to early 2022 were also recalled due to the discovery that the warning bell and visual signal for the seat belts may not activate in some cases – violating basic safety standards.
The sudden passing of Diogo Jota is not only a pain for his family but also a great loss for football fans around the world. Although his journey ended too soon, Jota\’s beautiful memories and contributions to the pitch will live on forever in the hearts of fans.
